IMPLEMENTATION OF THE DISASTER MITIGATION PROGRAM IN CITALEUS VILLAGE, BUAHDUA DISTRICT, SUMEDANG DISTRICT

Abstract

This research aims to examine the implementation of the disaster mitigation program in Citaleus village, Buahdua District, Sumedang Regency, the obstacles to its implementation, and efforts to overcome these obstacles. The method used in this research is a qualitative approach, with literature study and field study as data collection techniques. Based on the research results, it was concluded that the implementation of the disaster mitigation program in Citaleus village, Buahdua District, Sumedang Regency had been carried out in accordance with the previously determined plan. However, the implementation of this program experienced several obstacles, namely the lack of areas that were busy with visits, and the lack of facilities to support the program. In overcoming these obstacles, several efforts were made, namely proposing several location points that were easy for the community to access, and proposing the support needed for program implementation. Before the mitigation program was implemented, the community had minimal knowledge regarding the advice to mitigate earthquake disasters, because many of the people in Citaleus Village did not have cell phones, let alone access the internet to find out what to do when an earthquake occurred. After this program, the community became know what advice to follow when an earthquake occurs, thereby increasing public awareness of the threat of disasters. It is hoped that this program will be implemented by the public in their daily lives, so as to reduce the risk of the threat of earthquake damage.
