OPTIMALISASI LITERASI DIGITAL SEBAGAI UPAYA PENCEGAHAN STUNTING DAN PENGEMBANGAN UMKM DI DESA KARANGHEULUET

Abstract

This PKM initiative is motivated by the high prevalence of stunted children in Karangheuleut Village, with 16 recorded cases in 2024. Additionally, there is insufficient attention given to existing UMKM, which serve as pillars of community welfare. These issues have garnered increased attention from the Sumedang Regency government. To address these challenges, service activities emphasize the proposed solution of optimizing digital literacy. This approach was chosen as the main focus of the PKM activity, aiming to directly address the prevention of new stunting cases and to develop UMKM in Karangheuleut Village, enhancing their presence and competitiveness. The PKM activities employed socialization and mentoring methods. Stunting awareness and support are provided to teenagers and pregnant women, while UMKM support targets practitioners in the developmental stage, comprising two UMKM units as developmental samples. These activities aimed to transfer knowledge and understanding to teenagers and pregnant women, emphasizing the importance of observing and implementing patterns to prevent the birth of stunted children. This includes premarital knowledge, nutritional aspects, causes of stunting, and support for healthy pregnancies and children. Furthermore, UMKM mentoring activities focused on transferring knowledge and understanding related to capital, financial management, and marketing techniques, particularly with digital marketing. As part of this assistance, the two UMKM practitioners have received product labels and are promoting their products via Instagram social media, managed directly by BUMDes.
