Abstract

Village tourism has a strategic role in local economic development and cultural preservation. However, many village tourism potentials have not been optimally explored due to limited resources, lack of information, and lack of integrated management strategies. Curug Cipongkor in Ciherang Village, Sumedang Regency, is one of the natural tourism potentials that has not been widely explored. Therefore, this study aims to identify and map the tourism potential of Curug Cipongkor and analyze the feasibility of its development based on the ADO-ODTWA Guidelines of the Director General of PHKA (2003).  The research method used includes descriptive analysis and assessment of the feasibility of tourist attractions based on variables of tourist attractions, accessibility, conditions around the area, management and services, accommodation, infrastructure, and availability of clean water. The results of the analysis show that Curug Cipongkor has a feasibility index of 70.2%, which means it is feasible to develop further. Elements of tourist attraction (76.2%), conditions around the area (70%), and the availability of clean water (90%) obtained a feasible category, while accessibility (40.9%), management and services (66.6%), accommodation (33.3%), and facilities and infrastructure (58.3%) are still not feasible.  Based on the results of the study, the development strategy of Curug Cipongkor should focus on improving accessibility, improving infrastructure, and optimizing management and services. The mapping of tourism potential is expected to be the basis for sustainable village tourism development planning, increase tourist attraction, and encourage economic growth of local communities.
