Abstract

Education plays a vital role in building a nation. Countries with quality education systems produce competent and innovative human resources. The Program for International Student Assessment (PISA) is an international competency test that measures students' abilities in mathematics, science, and reading. However, PISA results in Indonesia are still low, especially in mathematics. This research focuses on developing PISA questions about cube geometry for junior high school students. The research method used the Research and Development (R&D) approach with stages of preliminary, self-evaluation, prototyping (validation, evaluation, and revision), and field testing. Seven experts tested the content validity and item quality of the questions. The results show that 5 out of 6 questions have high validity and reliability, as well as diverse difficulty levels. The analysis of students' problem-solving abilities shows variations in their abilities, ranging from very high to very low. The developed PISA questions have met the criteria of validity, reliability, and difficulty. Recommendations for PISA question developers include paying attention to the characteristics of the questions and ensuring their relevance to the curriculum. Studying PISA question types is also suggested so that students can improve their mathematical abilities. Further development of PISA questions is expected to enhance the quality of education in Indonesia and make a positive contribution to the global education arena.
