USE OF WAYANG KERTAS MEDIA TO INCREASE INTEREST AND LEARNING OUTCOMES IN SOCIAL SCIENCES IN ETHNIC DIVERSITY MATERIALS NATION AND CULTURE

This research is motivated by the low interest and learning outcomes of students in social studies subject matter of ethnic and cultural diversity. These problems occur because of factors from students and teachers to overcome these problems, researchers conduct research using paper puppet media to increase student interest and learning outcomes in social studies subject matter of ethnic and cultural diversity. The method used in this research is Classroom Action Research (CAR) by taking data face-to-face. This research was conducted on 20 students of class V SDN Bolang, this research was carried out in two cycles, where each cycle consisted of the stages of planning, implementing, observing and reflecting.
After receiving learning by applying the use of paper puppet media, an increase in student interest and learning outcomes in the material of ethnic and cultural diversity was obtained. This can be seen from the initial data conditions of student interest in learning, only 81 (45%) got the very poor category, after receiving treatment with the use of paper puppet media, there was an increase in interest and learning outcomes in the material of ethnic and cultural diversity. This can be seen from the increase in student interest in learning in the first cycle, which received a sufficient category of 135 (75%) and in the second cycle there was an increase in the very good category of 160 (88.88%). While on student learning outcomes in the initial data, only 2 students completed, in the first cycle there was an increase with 15 students who completed and in the second cycle increased to 8 students who completed the percentage. Thus, it can be concluded that the use of paper puppet media can increase student interest and learning outcomes in social studies learning material on ethnic and cultural diversity in class V SDN Bolang, Tanjungsiang District, Subang Regency.
