Abstract

This research is motivated by the low motivation and learning outcomes of students in science learning the water cycle material. This is caused by the lack of precise use of the model in the learning process. So that students find it difficult to understand the learning material. One of the efforts that can be done in overcoming this is by using the STAD type of cooperative learning model. The purpose of this research is to increase students' motivation and learning outcomes in learning science of water cycle material in fifth grade students of SDN Sekarwangi 2. This study uses classroom action research methods. The design of this research is to use the Kemmis and McTaggart model which is carried out in two cycles where each cycle consists of planning, action, observation, and reflection. Data collection techniques used in this study consisted of observation techniques and test techniques. The instruments used are observation sheets, and written tests. The results showed that students' learning motivation increased in each cycle. Initial data obtained by 46.67% which increased in the first cycle to 69.44% and increased again in the second cycle to 87.78%. In addition, student learning outcomes have increased in each cycle. an increase in the percentage of student learning outcomes classified as complete from the initial data with a learning completeness percentage of 49%, in the first cycle it increased to 59% and in the second cycle there was also an increase in students who completed with a learning completeness percentage of 80%, so that it has reached the target set. determined that is 70%. Based on the data from the research, it can be concluded that through the use of the STAD type cooperative learning model the results of observations and learning outcomes of fifth grade students at SDN Sekarwangi 2 on the water cycle material can be increased.
