PENGARUH MODEL PEMBELAJARAN STEAM BERBASIS DIFERENSIASI TERHADAP PEMAHAMAN KONSEP MATEMATIS SISWA PADA MATERI PERKALIAN

Abstract

This research is motivated by the importance of students’ conceptual understanding in mathematics to solve problems they encounter both in the classroom and in daily life. The purpose of this study is to determine the effect of using the STEAM learning model based on differentiation on students’ mathematical conceptual understanding. This research was conducted in Grade IV of SDN Sindang IV, Sumedang Utara district, Sumedang Regency, in the 2024/2025 Academic Year. The research design used was a One-Group Pretest-Posttest Design, by administering a pretest and a posttest. The sampling technique employed was simple random sampling, as members of the sample were selected randomly from the population without considering existing strata. The sample consisted of 27 students from class IV-B of SDN Sindang IV, including 13 boys and 14 girls. The research instrument used was a multiple-choice test to measure students’ mathematical conceptual understanding. Data analysis was carried out using statistical tests with the assistance of SPSS23. The results showed that the average pretest score was 59.62, while the average posttest score was 77.77. The normality test using Shapiro-Wilk indicated that the data were normally distributed, with a significance value of 0.081 for the pretest and 0.98 for the posttest (both greater than 0.05). To test the hypothesis, a paired sample t-test was conducted. The results of the t-test showed a significance value of 0.000 (p < 0.05), indicating a significant difference between the pretest and posttest scores. Based on these results, Ho is rejected Ha is accepted, showing that the STEAM learning model based on differentiation has a significant effect on students’ mathematical conceptual understanding in multiplication material for Grade IV students at SDN Sindang IV, Sumedang Utara district, Sumedang Regency, in the 2024/2025 Academic Year.
