Abstract

Based on the results of observations regarding the understanding of the concept of sound properties in class IV it is categorized as low because learning in general is still teacher centered and teachers have not found a suitable model to overcome these problems. From the problems above, the researcher is interested in conducting research with the title application of the inquiry model to find out an overview of the understanding of the concept of sound properties in fourth grade elementary school students. This study aims to find out the description of the use of the inquiry model in learning sound properties of fourth grade elementary school students, to find out the response of teachers and students to the use of the inquiry model in learning the sound properties of fourth grade elementary school students seen from the description of comprehension abilities. The research method used is a qualitative descriptive method. This is so that researchers can explain the efforts made by the teacher in improving the quality of learning, especially the material properties of sound. The subjects of this study were 11 students of grade IV MI Sukaguna, consisting of 6 female students and 5 male students. The author uses observation, questionnaires and tests as research instruments. Observations were given to teachers as observers, questionnaires were given to students as (class) as respondents and one teacher, and tests were given to students as research subjects. After the data is obtained and analyzed, it can be said that the use of the learning model applied to the material can be used very well with the condition that the implementation of learning must be in accordance with the phase of the learning model. So, it is highly recommended for thematic teachers to use the Inquiry learning model in material on sound properties.
