Abstract

It is often found that students do not understand the concept of material so that it hinders the learning process. The right solution is to apply the project based learning (PJBL) learning model, this learning model can make it easier for students to understand material especially energy changes because the learning takes the form of meaningful real projects for fourth grade students of MI AL-MUHAJIRIN. The type of research used is qualitative with a qualitative descriptive method. The research subjects were all students of class IV A MI AL-MUHAJIRIN, totaling 30 students. The sampling technique uses a purposive sampling technique, namely a sampling technique where the data source experiences certain considerations. This study used interviews, observations, and questionnaires. The results showed that students experienced an increase in understanding seen from the cognitive tests carried out. The difference in the increase is also in the percentage of 14.6%. Also supported by the results of interviews and response questionnaires conducted by researchers to teachers and students who were declared effective. Based on the results of the research conducted, the project based learning (PJBL) model can improve the ability to understand concepts better.
