Abstract

This research is motivated by the low motivation and student learning outcomes in social studies learning material for the struggle of the heroes. This is due to the application of learning strategies that are less creative and effective in the teaching and learning process. Based on these circumstances, researchers have a solution, namely the implementation of the card sort. The purpose of this study was to determine the increase in students' motivation and learning outcomes by using the card sort in social studies learning material for the struggle of the heroes.The method used is Classroom Action Research (CAR). This research was conducted on fourth grade students of SDN Cileutik, Tanjungsari District, Sumedang Regency. This study uses Kurt Lewin's model with four stages, namely planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. Data collection techniques used are observation sheets and written testsThe results showed that the students' learning motivation increased in each cycle. The initial data obtained 48%, the first cycle increased to 66%, and the second cycle increased to 90%. In student learning outcomes have increased in each cycle. The initial data obtained 47%, the first cycle increased to 69%, and the second cycle increased to 88%. Based on the data from this research, it can be concluded that the application of the card sort can improve students' motivation and learning outcomes in grade IV SDN Cileutik in the 2021/2022 academic year on the material of the struggle of the heroes.
