Abstract

Lack of motivation and student learning outcomes in social studies learning material utilization of natural resources is the background of this research. The teaching and learning process that depelovs in the classroom is generallly determined by the teacher amd students. The use of learning models and learning media that do not vary can affect students’ learning motivation. Lack of student motivation in learning has an impact on student learning outcomes. This classroom action research aims to increase students’ motivation learning outcomes by applying the team games tournament learning model. This research was conducted in two cycles with stages consisting of planning, implementation and reflection. This stage is bsaed on the CAR model by Kemmis and Mc. Taggart. The research instruments used were student learning motivation observation sheets, learning outcomes evaluation test questions, syllabus, and learning implementation. Based on the results of research, student learning motivation in the first cycle increased to 65,21% with sufficient criteria. In the second cycle again increased to 86,95% with good criteria. Likewise with student learning outcomes, in the first cycle there was an increase with the percentage of students who completed it to 69,56% and in the second ycle the percentage of students who completed it increased again to 95,65%. These results prove that the application of the team games tournament learning model can increase students’ motivation and learning outcomes.
