Abstract

Literacy has evolved from just the ability to read and write to a skill that includes numerical skills as well as multimodal use. In Kurikulum Merdeka, increasingly emphasizes the development of multimodal literacy in textbooks, which includes textual elements, visual images and design features. This study aims to analyze the use of multimodal literacy in text examples in grade VIII Indonesian language books. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative method. The data collection technique used is note-taking technique. Based on the results of the study, textual elements, visual images, and design features were found to be used in the 8th grade Indonesian language book. The most widely used multimodal literacy in the text examples in the Indonesian language book is the textual elements. This research can be useful for learners, teachers, and schools in utilizing and developing the use of multimodal literacy.
