Abstract

One of the various literature learning materials that students must learn and appreciate is drama. The failure of drama learning occurs because students feel bored. The drama learning process only emphasizes the activities of sitting, being silent, listening and taking notes, and does not lead to students' creative thinking. Therefore, it takes a learning method and approach that can increase the creativity of students. One of the learning methods that teachers can choose is the role playing method with a HOTS-oriented scientific approach. This study aims to determine the difference in the success rate of drama learning between those who use the role playing method with a HOTS-oriented scientific approach in the experimental class and those who do not use the role playing method in the control class. Data analysis was performed with two treatment statistical tests. The method used in this research is quasy experiment with qualitative and quantitative analysis. Based on the results of data analysis, it is known that the success rate of learning drama with the role playing method with a HOTS-oriented scientific approach in the experimental class is high. This is evidenced by the average value of drama learning outcomes in the experimental class which reached 81 and was classified as good. The success rate of learning drama in the control class is also relatively high. This is evidenced by the average value of learning outcomes which reach 80 and belong to the good category. There is no difference in the success rate of learning drama between the experimental class and the control class. This is evidenced by the results of the calculation of the t test which shows < or 0.6172 < 2.0003. Thus, the two methods are equally good when used in drama learning.
